Listen to the podcast below as Axis dives into the WGC Bridgestone Invitational field and shares his thoughts and top players in his model!
Firestone Country Club, Akron Ohio
7400 yd, Par 70 (She’s a long one!)
A majority of the worlds best (and a few lucky others) will be gathered in Akron this week to take aim at WGC prize money and warm up for the years final major, only one week away.
When you think Bridgestone, you better think Tiger Woods. He’s batting 8/15 as far as winning this event goes so that should tell you all about the type of player it takes to win this event. There is nobody else like Tiger though so I’ll help you out – long off the tee, long iron play, approach, and putting. Simple, right?
Also make note – there is NO CUT this week and the field is only going to be 77 golfers I believe. This allows you to take more risks at the bottom of the field and take a stars/scrubs approach and not have cut sweats.
That’s typically how I approach these. I pick my two guys near the top who I think will win, and pick & pray accordingly from the bottom on guys who fit the mold for this course (hello, Xander).
