THE PLAYERS Championship Daily Fantasy Golf Picks & Bets

Listen to the below podcast for more in depth analysis on my picks/bets for THE PLAYERS Championship.

PODCAST:

Ah, THE PLAYERS Championship; the “5th Major” as many like to call it. I find it ridiculous but when you take a look at the purse and the field that shows up you understand why this nickname has stuck, even if they gave it to themselves. Be sure to have your Training Day memes ready because everybody is about to get wet. TPC Sawgrass has water lurking everywhere and is known for its par 3, 17th, island green. This is not a bombers course (Pete Dye layout) so instead look for more accuracy and those with a solid approach game who can attack this unique layout.

You will have plenty of outstanding golfers to choose from with 48 of the worlds top 50 in attendance (wtf, why aren’t you here Pieters!?). I’m not much of a course history person but feel free to take a peek this week due to the unique layout and specific shots needed to succeed here.

As for the betting – again, with the deep field, you will get some solid golfers at longer odds than usual. Don’t be afraid to pull the trigger. This is a week where you could dump 2 or 3 units on a guy up top and still back that up with 2-3 golfers at 60 to 100/1 odds who are still capable of winning.

I went a little crazy this week because of how deep this field is you can get really good numbers on quality golfers. I still bet the same amount I do each week I just spread it out over a few more golfers by not betting anybody at the top.

Kaymer 80/1
Henley 85/1
Berger 90/1
Moore 110/1

Wells Fargo Championship $150 Single Entry Recap

It was quite disappointing considering I got 5/6 through but the chalk (Scott) hit hard, as did Rahm and DJ who were also quite heavily owned and my long shot at the top (Phil) didn’t do anything spectacular. The biggest let down was Noren with a +5 on Sunday. If he had stayed in the top 5 I potentially could have cashed.  However, that’s the pros and cons of the larger entries – lower scores to win, but often higher cash lines, especially with chalk hitting.

The only thing I regret looking back on is the late night swap I made from Molinari to Wes Bryan.  I tried to get cute and sneak in a solid golfer who I thought would be overlooked but he didn’t really match all of my criteria. My mistake and I paid for being a moron and second guessing my play.
