NHL Cash Core, December 14th
It’s not a particularly expensive core tonight, leaving you room to spend some cash at LW or G.
Nikita Kucherov – RW – 6.4k
I haven’t used Kuch much this year but he has five goals in his last four games and has a nice match up against Columbus. He throws a lot of pucks at the net and his production has been coming on the PP which is a nice plus because once Tampa’s offense gets rolling it can become unstoppable. Hopefully Kuch is beginning to roll again like last season and playing up with Stamkos doesn’t hurt!
Ryan O’Reily – C – 5.5k
Detroit has been on a nice roll lately but they’re still giving up goals and O’Reily has been producing. He has a seven game points streak and 11 points in his L10 games. Buffalo is struggling to win but they are playing solid and competitive hockey. The Sabers have also been scoring more recently than they were in the early part of the season as their young talent begins to gel. I like O’Reily to pick up a point tonight against Detroit.
Mark Stone – RW – 4.8k
Stone is here primarily due to price but he has also been producing a lot – 11 points in his L10 games. Stone has (for the moment) been moved back to the top line to play with Turris/Smith. The top 2 lines seems to always be swapping a guy or two, but all of Ottawa’s top talent plays together on the 1st PP Unit which is great. LA is a tough match up but it’s hard to pass up Stone’s value for this production level.
Leon Draisaitl – C – 3.8k
Leon continues to dazzle and FanDuel continues to ignore his price. He’s becoming an autolock because of this. You can’t find this type of production from a top line center for anything close to 3.8k. It’s absurd and quite frankly, embarrassing that FanDuel has yet to adjust his price. He has eight points in his last four games, including last game in which he racked up four apples. Just plug him in and move on.
*Bonus* Taylor Hall – LW – 9.6k
He makes a great pair with his centermen, Draisaitl. I really don’t mind using two guys from the same line in cash, especially when they’re rolling like these guys. Hall has nine, yes NINE points in his last four games. It’s not the best match up but the Bruins haven’t had their lock down defense this season and Rask has been beatable. If the Oilers score a goal (or more) there is a solid chance it will be produced by the top line.
