NBA Cash Core, December 7th
My core is pretty expensive today but that’s because there should be some nice value plays tonight with injuries. I’m not including these players because I’m not sure yet how they will fit in my LU and I’m not sure if J.J. Redick will be playing yet. Paul is out so if J.J. misses again, Crawford is a great play. Austin Rivers is starting at PG for the Clippers but he’s awful and still struggles to hit value at 3.5k.
Blake Griffin – PF – 9.3k
With CP3 being out, even more of an offensive load will be on Griffin. He’s not rated as high as Davis for me, but I can’t justify the price for what I project for him. Griffin should see close to 40 minutes tonight and his typical usage of 30% should increase slightly; this should offset the Timberwolves improve defense. It should be a decently high scoring game, with a projected O/U of 203. Out of the nine games tonight, it’s tied for the 2nd high projected score and I really think with Paul missing Blake has a ceiling in the mid 50’s tonight, and a floor in the 30’s.
Kawhi Leonard – SF – 8.8k Leonard is OUT – SICK – Play Kyle Anderson
You can go a lot of ways at SF tonight but Leonard has the best match up BY FAR. It doesn’t take a genius to pick on the 76ers and Leonard is the best option from the Spurs. His usage is 27%, he plays close to 35 min/gm, and he’s averaged 42 FP/gm over his L5. On one days rest, Leonard is averaging 38 FP and in a match up like tonight there’s no reason he can’t hit 45.
Isaiah Thomas – PG – 7.8k
It appears Avery Bradley is sick and may not play tonight which would boost my love for Thomas even more. Even if Bradley plays, I really like Isaiah. New Orleans continues to struggle defending opposing PGs, giving up 11% more points than league average. Thomas plays 33+ min/gm and his usage is 22%, and this game should have a lot of possessions. He’s averaging 37 FP/Gm over his L5 and should at least get into the 30’s again tonight.
Greg Monroe – C – 7.7k
I love Monroe for his price tonight. He’s been averaging 33 min/gm and that will be greatly beneficial in this great match up against the Trail Blazers. He’s scored 30+ FP in eight of his L10 games, and Portland gives up 13% more points than average to Cs. His usage is only 23% but he’s averaging 38 FP/gm at home. I don’t love C tonight but I believe Monroe will finish in the 30’s tonight, potentially pushing 40.
