Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks, October 22nd
1. Dallas Stars
At this point it’s pretty hard to fade Seguin or Benn, whether it’s cash or GPP. I can tell you now, I’ll be using AT LEAST one of them, if not both, in cash games. Their top line is tough to stack because Sharp is expensive compared to most 3rd wingers but it could be done with a contrarian pick. They had one hell of an offense last season and have not slowed up. I will continue to ride the train until further notice. Pittsburgh has only given up 11 goals this season so this could be the game the Stars finally slow down (just a bit) but at this rate I’m not taking my chances.
2. Minnesota Wild
Dumpster fire alert! Columbus is a hot mess right now, no matter which goaltender they use. Sure, they made a coaching change (unwarranted) to get a new atmosphere but Torts isn’t going to change anything over night. I’ll be firing up Parise/Pominville/Granlund all over the place. The Bluejackets as a whole haven’t been playing awful hockey they just haven’t been scoring enough to offset their poor goaltending. Minnesota has been one of the best possesion teams in the league the past three seasons and I’m hoping they can take advantage of the situation and continue to demoralize Columbus. I must also tell you this; the Wild’s second line of Koivu/Zucker/Neiderrieter has actually played better as a whole than the first line they just haven’t produced as many goals. Not a bad line to stack that will be low owned but still a great chance to notch a couple goals.
3. Ottawa Senators
I’ll be on one of my favorite lines in hockey – Hoffman/Turris/Stone. They continue to be the main hub of scoring for the Senators and although their possession hockey isn’t that great, NJ isn’t that great at it either. Also helping the Senators is their PP will be in a good position facing one of the weaker penalty kills this season. The top line plays on the PP together and I like their chances to notch one on the PP. They are also typically low priced compared to most top scoring lines. Turris and Stone are solid cash play options.
4. New York Rangers
Typically I don’t list four teams but I like the Rangers facing a young Coyotes team. It’s been a slow start for a regularly steady Rangers club and I think they will begin to regress to a better possession team. I also believe Arizona will continue to work it’s way to the bottom in this category. The Rangers are heavy favorites and I’ll have some shares of Nash/Zuccarello. Be on the look out for who will center this line. It is typically Stepan but he had his wisdom teeth removed yesterday and although I read he would play, there could be a set back.
King Henrik and Dubnyk would be my top options tomorrow but I have a feeling they will be hard to roster in GPPs if you’re spending up for the superstar forwards so you could look to the Hamburgler (Andrew Hammond) getting his first start of the year for Ottawa. If you want to stick with a pretty hot hand, Martin Jones is a solid option but the Kings will start scoring eventually…
LW – Artemi Panarin
RW – James Neal
C – Tyler Seguin
C – Mikko Koivu (Value)
G – King Henrik, Crawford, Hammond, Jones (cheap)
