Daily Fantasy NFL Picks, Week 6
Another losing week which was disappointing considering I felt pretty good about the lineup. Charles getting hurt didn’t help, but Matthews was non existent even in a 39 point scoring fest for Philly. The ball gets spread out quite a bit there and going forward, Eagles will be tough to own in cash games.
Who knew there would be a day I’d start Blake Bortles in a cash lineup? He’s been surprisingly consistent and he had his best game last week with his full compliment of weapons back. The Jags should be in a hard fought game with the Texans and the Jags have been a pass first offense. Bortles has a solid floor with a mid-20’s ceiling.
I wasn’t in love with many RBs this week so I decided to spend up on Bell and Freeman. Bell needs no explanation; he’s the best RB in the NFL and the Steelers offense revolves around him with Big Ben out of the picture. He was used early and often and I don’t see that changing. Freeman has seen his usage skyrocket since Coleman went out and even with Coleman returning last week Freeman was a monster. He has an amazing matchup against the Saints and has a ceiling of 30 this week. He should easily pay off his 8k salary.
Typically the Patriots pound the ball down the Colts throat when the play but with an implied team total of 31 points Edelman should still see his share of targets and scoring chances. If you’re not going to use Gronk or Brady, Edelman is still a great choice to get a piece of that offense (I can’t fully trust Lewis this week). Snead has seen his targets increase almost every week yet his salary is only 6.2k. The Saints/Falcons may be the highest scoring game this week and Snead should easily see plenty of targets to pay off his cheap salary. Brees trusts him and the Falcons secondary has not been good this season. He’s a steal. Fitz’s resurgance continues and even despite Palmer only throwing 14 times against Detroit, Fitz was still able to score double digit points. The game should be more competitive this week and the Steelers have been getting torn up by opposing passing games. He’s a safe wide receiver.
Did you watch the game on Monday night? It seemed like every time Gates ran a route he was getting a target. His first game back was a great one and I don’t see why that will change against Green Bay. The Chargers should be throwing a lot and Gates is Rivers favorite target anywhere on the field.
Hocker/Titans fit with the salary I have remaining but I do like the Titans this week. The Dolphins are a mess and Tennessee has been decent on the defensive side.
