A nice week off after a dismal last tournament, we move on to the BMW Championship where the top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup will battle to make it to the tournament championship. This event does not have a cut so all of your golfers will have four rounds to rack up points.
So, instead of posting a cash game lineup like I typically do, I will instead be posting players I’ll be targeting across multiple lineups, hoping to take down a big tournament. Mixed in will be the stars/studs that I will build around and some of the sleepers I will use for salary relief. Good luck this week!
Rory McIlroy (12.1k) – I’m targeting Rory hoping that his slow recovery and high price will keep people from rostering him. He’s one of, if not the best, golfer in the world and the pressure is mounting. I think he will rise and make a push at victory this week.
Henrik Stenson (11.4k) – Stenson will more than likely be one of the higher owned studs of the week, for good reason. He’s a great golfer who is on fire, with the stats to push him to the top of the leaderboard this week. He’s accurate off the tee, great at scoring on P4’s, and ranked 13th in birdie or better %. He’s finished 2nd in three of his last six events, including 2nd in last two tournaments.
Rickie Fowler (10.7k) – Last weeks winner, Fowler seems to elevate his game when the pressure is up. He has four top 10s in his last seven events, including two victories. He’s 34th in strokes gained putting and 14th in birdie or better %. I think he will finish top 10 this week and push for the victory on Sunday.
Value (7.2k or less)
Jason Bohn is my favorite cheap play of the tournament. Bohn, despite missing the cut in his last event, has placed in the top 15 in four of his last six events. He’s extremely accurate off the tee, a solid putter, and top 30 player in birdie or better %. Birdies win tournies on Draftkings so it never hurts to target players who rack them up. Considering there is no cut this week, you want as many of these players as possible. Bohn is a great cheap option to contend.
Kevin Na has been a consistent player all year. He’s not a bomber off the tee but that’s not necessary this week, and although he hasn’t had a top 20 finish in some time this course sets up nicely for his style of game. He should be low owned due to his lack to top finishes and I hope to take advantage of that. He’s 33rd in birdie or better % and the downside is his streaky putter. He has quite a few top 10s this season so when the putter is on, he can contend.
