NHL DFS Picks, 4-9-15

Today is the second to last big slate of the regular NHL season and I must say I’m sad to see it come to an end.  It’s been a profitable year and hopefully my readers have been able to benefit as well! I honestly get a joy out of reading thank you emails of people who have won with my help.  And that sounds egotistical but at the end of the day, that’s why I share my thoughts.  I love DFS and I love writing and if it can help others that is the cherry on top.  So thank you readers and hopefully we can end the season on a great note and even make some cash in the postseason.

Today’s Targets:

  1. Vancouver Canucks: I’ve played the Sedin Twins quite a few times this year and they seem to be my kryptonite to be honest.  I’ve had some good nights with them and maybe it’s just my memory but they have whiffed for me quite a bit, even in the middle of their hot streaks but I can’t hold grudges in DFS so I’m going back to them facing Arizona.  Currently, Burrows is listed as their RW but their wing partner has changed frequently this season.  I often time find myself playing the Sedins and then slotting Vrbrata in the RW slot and I may just do that again tonight in a couple lineups.  Vrbrata has 12 points in his L10 games and he throws a lot of pucks on net.  If there is anybody on the team who can pot 2 or more against Arizona.
  2. Winnipeg Jets: The Jets can clinch a playoff spot with a victory tonight and they’ve scored a lot of goals this season against Colorado.  I’m hoping they come out blazing and destroy a poor defensive team.  I really wanted to put San Jose here but they’re lack of motivation stopped me, despite a good matchup and I bumped the Sharks down my list.  But that’s not to say I’m not confident in the Jets. I will be targeting their second line of Stafford/Scheifele/Wheeler.  They have been playing well together and their top line hasn’t been producing at a clip I would like to see.  They wouldn’t be a bad choice but I think the second line has a higher ceiling.
  3. Philly Flyers: I could have put a few teams here but the Flyers top line is HOT and they get to face the Hurricanes.  Carolina can battle but they also give up a fair amount of goals and I think Philly will continue to play hard for the home crowd.  Raffl/Giroux/Voracek will make up a core of lineups tonight.  This matchup could scare people with some other tasty matchups out there but Philly has done enough recently to make my top 3 tonight.

Honorable Mentions: If Philly scares you, San Jose and Tampa were close to making my list.

It’s far too early in the day for me to accurately project, but Pavelec is HOT for Winnipeg, coming off back to back shutouts and as always, I’m looking for a cheap goalie in GPPs so I can make the highest scoring lineup.  Edmonton is starting Brossoit tonight (I’m not sure if he’s even on FanDuel and Draftkings) but that’s a scary proposition.  Jake Allen has been playing well and is relatively cheap but facing Chicago.  He should get a lot of shots against him and will probably be low owned (in fact he won me a GPP on Easter when he beat Chicago and was only 4% owned).
